Can I have a Head Spa with short or no hair?

Yes,  absolutely! Any hair type is welcome!

Question 2

I have very long / very thick hair, is this ok?

Accepted Answer

Yes, this is absolutely fine for any Head Spa treatments. Please select the "Extra Drying time for long/thick hair" add on at booking so we have enough to make sure your hair is fully dry after treatment.

Question 3

Can I have a Head Spa with hair extensions?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately, we are unable to carry out Head Spa on anyone with hair extensions due to potentially causing damage or matting. It is advised you have a Head Spa in between fittings.

Question 4

Can I have a Head Spa if I have recently coloured or highlighted my hair?

Accepted Answer

The short answer is yes  but it should be avoided if it has recently been dyed as colour may be removed during treatment. It is best to give your hair a few washes first.

Can I get my hair dried after treatment?

Accepted Answer

We will always fully dry your hair following your treatment. We also offer blow-dry and styles as an extra treatment.  Hair will be towel dried should you not wish your hair dried.

If you have extra long or thick hair, please select the "Extra Drying Time" Add on at booking, this is to ensure we have enough time to fully dry your hair after treatment

I have naturally curly hair - how will you dry it post treatment?

For clients with naturally curly or textured hair, we do recommend either allowing your hair to dry naturally post head spa or upgrading to a smooth blow dry. Following a head spa treatment, the combination of moisture and products can sometimes cause the hair to become fluffy when heat is reapplied without styling. A smooth blow dry helps create a sleeker, more controlled finish. We do have a diffuser attachment but would recommend booking in with our hairdresser Jemma should you wish a diffuser dry. You are also more than welcome to bring any styling products.

I suffer from psoriasis, is this is a suitable treatment?

Yes. A HeadSpa aims to help with any scalp condition such as psoriasis, dry/flaky scalp and alopecia.

Question 8

I'm pregnant, can I still have a Head Spa?

Accepted Answer

Due to the use of essential oils and the amount of time lying on your back during treatment, a Head Spa cannot be carried out on pregnant women. Would be great to have after your baby is born ( a good push gift!)

Can I have a Head Spa if I am breastfeeding?

Accepted Answer

Yes but please make your therapist aware as some essential oils can affect your milk supply.

Can I bring a friend or children?

Accepted Answer

The aim of any Head Spa(ce) appointment is for you to relax as much as possible so please come to your appointment alone. Please do not bring guests or companions with you to your appointment, unless agreed with management. If anyone attends with you, they will be kindly asked to leave.

Question 11

I find it difficult to switch off during a treatment. How do you help me with this?

Accepted Answer

Every effort is made to keep the treatment room as relaxing as possible. It's a busy world and some background outdoor noise cannot be avoided. Calming music will be playing throughout your treatment. We use eye masks and can provide ear plugs should you require them.

To help you relax as much as possible, we do not talk during your treatment but please make us aware if you have any concerns or if something doesn't feel right.

Do you do double treatments?

Yes, we can facilitate up to 3 people a time. Please contact us directly to book

How often should I have a Head Spa treatment?

Accepted Answer

This depends on your scalp condition . You are welcome to come as often as you would like however we do advise if you have a healthy, normal scalp, every 6 months. If you have a  scalp with problems, we recommend every 2-3 months.

Question 14

What is your Aftercare advice?

Accepted Answer

After a Head Spa treatment, your therapist will discuss a treatment plan following your scalp analysis.  It is recommended to follow these steps:

- Drink plenty of water after your Head Spa
- Avoid caffeine and alcohol 
- Avoid physical exercise for 24 hours - rest up! 
- Delay washing your hair until for 2-3 days to allow the essential oils to absorb

Any concerns or problems following your treatment, please do not hesitate to contact your therapist

What is your age limit?

Due to insurance purposes, we can only carry out treatments on over 16's. If you are over 16 but under 18, you must have written parental consent prior to your appointment.

I need to reschedule my appointment, how do I do this?

Accepted Answer

If you need to reschedule your appointment, you can change your appointment date within your online booking or you can contact The Head Spa(ce) directly. Please make sure you re book with the therapist you initially booked in with. Please note, if less than 48 hours notice is given, full payment will be due.

If you have a gift voucher and need to reschedule, the same applies as above. However, if you reschedule or cancel your appointment with less than 48 hours notice, your voucher will be forfeited and you will need to pay a deposit for your rescheduled date.

I need to cancel my appointment, what do I do?

If you need to cancel your appointment and do not wish to reschedule, please contact The Head Spa(ce) directly by phone or email.

Question 18

I have a gift voucher, how do I book?

Accepted Answer

If you would like to redeem your voucher, please contact us directly so we can arrange your booking for you.  You can reach us via email, contact enquiry form or phone. You will be asked to quote the last 4 digits of your voucher code if you have one. This helps us ensure your voucher is applied correctly and that the appropriate treatment time and therapist are arranged for you.

How do I find you?

Please look at our CONTACT page for specific directions. We are based in Centre House on the 2nd floor. We are not in the main Midlothian Innovation Centre (MIC), reception staff are based there Monday- Friday should you get lost and will re direct you

On arrival to the MIC continue straight through the white pillars and carry on until you see Centre House (3 storey white building with a conservatory front entrance)

I find new places and new people daunting, how can you help with this?

We know that new places and new faces can feel daunting. If you experience anxiety or feel nervous coming to somewhere new, please let us know when booking or on arrival. We're more than happy to take you straight to one of our treatment rooms and carry out your consultation privately, so you can feel calm, comfortable and at ease from the moment you arrive.

Do you provide dressing gowns and slippers?

We have a no outdoor shoe policy within the spa. We can provide slippers if required, or you are welcome to bring your own. Dressing gowns are available at request.
